TOPIC IN PROGRESS
Here is my final project of the third year regarding my professional retraining as a game designer. It lasted 3 months.
This prototype is a vertical slice representative of an intermediate level of the complete game.
Agögé is a mix between 3 main styles:
- roguelite (Dead Cells, juicy gameplay),
- hack'n'slash (Diablo II, so good),
- platformer (Ori and the will of the wisps, what a game!).
Main features, described on the GDD, are:
- Random meteo,
- Random enemies number and locations,
- Random chest number and locations,
- Secret areas,
- Fights against enemies waves,
- Boss fights,
- Loot, find equipments, create your own builds,
- Level up, improve your attributes,
- Enhance your base, crafting is part of the game,
- Skills tree, unlock them and enhance their power according to your playstyle,
- Movement skills to survive the deadly platforms areas,
- Rich stories,
- And so on.
Artistic direction is inspired by the Bruxelles' School ("ligne claire" style). I had taken some liberties with the rules to enhance the legibility of the main assets in relation to the background.
Lastly, the scenario is based on a cyberpunk universe (Deus Ex!!). It is a rich story dealing with transhumanism . Several endings are possible depending on the player choices. At start, they abandonned you on Tartaris. You have to achieve your Agögé.
My work was to:
- create a scenario,
- design the level,
- create the level thanks to Godot Engine,
- design all the characters (avatar and enemies), create their animations...
- programming their AI (animationtree and code),
- design and create all the assets,
- develop all the interfaces, from the main menu to the in-game interface,
- and so on.
A few assets were retrieved from free contents, mainly a few sound designs.
Softwares:
- Godot Engine
- Inkscape : drawing
- Krita : drawing for the teaser
- Blender: teaser video editing
- Audacity: sound effects creation
- Musescore3: main menu theme creation
At the moment, I am still working on this project to:
- enhance the assets to match the artistic direction,
- add some missing features,
- improve the player feedback during fights or platforms areas.
